Most QC photos are useless if you don't know what to look for. Here's exactly what I check before accepting a package.
The QC Photo Checklist
- Check the sole from directly below – mold lines should be clean with no flash
- Ask for a close-up of the tongue label – font weight and spacing is the most common fail
- Insole photo flat and from 45 degrees – check for any creasing or bubbling
- Stitching close-up at the toe box – thread tension should look even
- Side profile in natural light – avoid seller photos with filters
- Box label photo – font, spacing, SKU format should all match retail
Red Flags in QC Photos
| Red Flag | What It Means | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| Blurry close-ups | Seller hiding detail issues | Ask for reshoot or reject |
| Only studio lit shots | Filter hiding color/texture flaws | Request natural light photos |
| No box photos | Box might be wrong or missing | Always request box shot |
| Stitching photo shows gaps | Likely a bad batch | GL and request replacement |
| Insole not lying flat | Possible glue issues underneath | Request flat insole photo |
| Logo slightly off-center | Minor and usually acceptable | Your call based on severity |
When to Accept vs GL
I GL (go later) on anything with: tongue font issues, obvious stitching gaps at stress points, or wrong colorway showing in natural light. I accept minor issues like slightly off-center logos, small thread pulls, or box cosmetic damage. You'll never get perfect.
